The Journey to my Destiny

Every since I was in preschool, I wanted everyone to know who I was. I wanted make people enjoy my quirkiness and charm. I had no filter and showed how I felt all the time. I was even bold enough to tell a grown man to stop smoking so he wouldn’t kill himself. I believed I could save lives with my actions. I initially wanted to be an actress. I thought that I could easily become a different character from my own. Unfortunately, as I got older, I became more aware of my surroundings and worried what I may say or do around others; I worried what people thought of me. This made it hard for me to stay in character, let alone concentrate. I began to do behind the scenes work instead, which didn’t help showcase my inner talents. Even though behind the scenes work was fine, I wasn’t satisfied with what I was doing; I felt like I wasn’t enough. It wasn’t until I realized all along that I always had a disposable camera with me. Taking & observing pictures was so much a part of my life that I didn’t realize that it was a hobby. It wasn’t until my mother purchase my first DSLR camera on 16th birthday that I realized that taking pictures is something I want to do as a living. As the years went on, I started to learn more about professionally taking pictures. It was a lot of fun! However, it became simplistic and felt like a chore. Although I have not lost any interest in photography, I wanted to do something more challenging. I began to seek interest in the cinematography. In fact, while growing up, I would always watch commentaries and behind the scenes footage of movies during my free time. I was always curious of know what happens when shooting a film. Cinematic arts is currently my major. I would love for the viewers to see what I see through the camera and to understand why I do. This also leads me to my other goal, which is to work with mass communications to focus on larger audiences and to know how their interactions to media play a huge role on the consumptions of media. I would say that even though I don’t necessarily want to stand out, I would like to make an impact on people’s lives without the attention involved. Interestingly enough, acting, camerawork, and communications work hand in hand with each other.
