They Are More Connected Than You Think!

As with most people, I have been through my share of ups and downs in life.

No complaints here, however.

I have still managed to turn out fairly well, and in many cases accomplished what I set out to do.

But not always!

One area which has stymied me is weight loss.

My weight continually goes up and down like a yo-yo. I go through periods of gain and loss like a perpetual motion machine.

Fortunately, I am currently sitting at a good weight. I can thank many Medium writers for a lot of this, as they produce a wealth of articles that focus on achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

Very useful indeed!

I am determined this time to maintain my current weight. However, in order to do this, I need to understand the psyche behind my weight gain.

What is actually happening in this pea brain of mine when I start packing on the pounds?

The answer to this answer is short and sweet.

Emotions

I am an “emotional eater.”

In my down periods, I eat a lot and exercise very little.

And what leads to these “down times?”

Love and relationships.

If my love life is faltering or changing, I spiral downwards.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a happily married guy. We do have our ups and downs though. Interestingly, when I look back at the periods of significant weight gain in my life, it is during these “love struggles” that I packed on the pounds.

Make sense?

The truth of the matter is that love and weight loss are very similar. They have many of the same physiological and psychological effects.
