Giant pandas are shy animals that prefer to live alone. They have highly developed sense of smell that male use to avoid each other and find female easily for mating in the spring. Pandas give birth in bamboo nest. After 5 months pregnancy, female give birth to one or two cubes. They can’t crawl until 3 months of age. It takes 5 years to cub to become adult for female. And male for 7 years.

More than half of newborn panda die from diseases or accidentally crushed by their mother. Only 1000 pandas left on earth. Scientists are hoping to increase the giant panda population to 5000 by 2025.

Pandas have been a symbol of peace in China. Also giant pandas have been symbol of the International conservation organizations. The inspiration for the WWF( World Wide Fund For Nature) logo came from chichi, a giant panda was living at the condon zoo in 1961. The same year WWF was created.
