follow up

I posted a little story about today a year ago, and I wanted to follow up on it.

I was sitting with Meg — my 18-year-old step-daughter — enjoying the sun as it waned through magic hour. We were talking about nothing and everything, enjoying a laugh and the light and how wonderful summers were, and she stopped.

“You know I think of you as my dad, right?”

Still processing, but accepting that maybe it is my day, after all.
